Yesterday was the Preapplication Meeting for the DRI for the CSX ILC. In English that is, there was a meeting to determine what needs to be done to start the review process for the new rail hub.
I won't go into long detail, it was actually quite boring. The interesting thing is I don't think I've ever seen so many lawyers, CSX people and state and local officials in one room and all jittery.
I do have one issue, and that is the gopher tortoises are to be "mitagated", not moved. When Pam asked the environmental guy what that meant, he hemmed and hawed and then evaded the answer and in the end had to say that they would probably be killed. We did ask Rick Hood and he said he would look into it. So now I will be on the mission to save the gophers!
